Why aren鈥檛 there more women entrepreneurs?
As part of the 大象传媒鈥檚 100 women season Jenny Tooth of the UK Business Angels Association gives her take on why not as many women as men own a small business. In America, nearly 40 per cent of businesses are owned by women.
In the UK, it's less than half that - only about 17%. But the numbers of women starting businesses is growing every year.
She told 5 live: "Women are often quite slow at coming forward to find investment. I think they are reluctant to put themselves out there in front of investors."
The UK Business Angels Association helps small companies find investors who can help them with their businesses. It wants to get more women investing in new businesses.
Jenny advised potential entrepreneurs: "You have to be bold about all you've achieved because that shows how far you can grow a business and just how capable you are."
