Charity boss: Fine is 'affront' to people in need

The Chief Executive of the British Heart Foundation says a fine it's been handed for screening millions of donors, so they could target them for more money, is a "complete affront" to people with cardiovascular disease.

Simon Gillespie was speaking after the the Information Commissioners Office found the charity had breached Data Protection rules and fined it 拢18,000.

Mr. Gillespie says that if they have got things wrong then they "apologise" and they want to "maintain high standards" and "different people appreciate different forms of approaches".

He says they will "contest" the fine as "it's fundamentally wrong" and instead of going to the Treasury it should be spent on "lifesaving CPR training" or research into heart disease.
