The refugee saved by music
Innocent Magambi was a refugee for twenty seven years. He was born in a refugee camp and went on to live in five different African countries. Today he's based in Malawi and devotes his life to helping other people who have been through similar displacement. Innocent's parents were originally from Burundi, but had to flee to the neighbouring Democratic Republic of Congo because of political insecurity and the threat of violence. Innocent told Matthew Bannister when he first realised he was a refugee. (Picture credit: Diyan Kantardzhiev.)
