Bad rail service meant I lost my job
Two thousand train services across central London and the south coast have been cancelled - as drivers for train company Southern begin a 48 hour strike.
Commuter Valentina said: 鈥淭he service is appalling, the union needs to do something to sort out the situation.鈥
Single mother Sue says she lost her job because of delays to her commute: 鈥淚 cannot pay my rent because I lost my job two months ago. I鈥檝e now found a job 鈥 but how do I get to work?鈥
The walkout by members of the ASLEF union is the latest in a long-running dispute over plans to make drivers close train doors, rather than conductors.
Sue said: 鈥淚鈥檓 angry at the drivers 鈥 if other trains can run without guards then why can鈥檛 they?鈥
Transport Secretary Chris Grayling has urged train drivers to get back to work saying the strikes were "entirely politically motivated, there is no question about that."
