Newbury MP Richard Benyon joins the Privy Council
The Council is a formal body of advisers to Her Majesty the Queen.
Richard Benyon MP, Newbury:
"It's something that's given to cabinet ministers, which I'm not, or senior members of the opposition, which I'm not - but it's also given to senior back benchers.
"I sit on a thing called the Intelligence and Security committee.
"I got a very nice telephone call from the honours office.
"If you're a member of the government you attend a meeting...which you attend standing up, to ensure short meetings."
