A bookshop owner in the Yorkshire Dales has been labelled the 鈥榖ookseller from hell鈥� with the local council receiving over 20 complaints about him in the last four years. Steve Bloom owns a second-hand bookstore in the village of Hawes, and charges a 50p entry fee just to go in. He also once called a customer 鈥榓 pain in the arse.鈥�

John Blackie, chairman of Hawes & High Abbotside Parish Council branded Steve 鈥榬ude and offensive鈥� and gave him the 鈥榖ookseller from hell鈥� title.

But Steve told 5 live Drive:

鈥淚t鈥檚 a bit over the top. I鈥檓 not as bad as he鈥檚 painting it and my offences are not as great.鈥�

On the 50p entry charge Steve says he never actually takes the money:

鈥淚 see it as a test to see if they鈥檙e interested enough to come in.鈥�
