My Grandfather gave his life for his faith
The Bah谩鈥檌 faith is one of the youngest of the world鈥檚 major religions. In Iran, its place of birth, the Bah谩鈥檌s are viewed as heretics. Dozens were killed or jailed in the years immediately following the Islamic revolution of 1979. Kimia鈥檚 Grandfather was one of the first to be executed because of this faith. She recounts as a child learning that her Granddad had given his life for his religion, her Grandmother saying 鈥渁 crown of glory has been placed on the heads of our family鈥. For the Bah谩鈥檌s martyrdom is considered the greatest honour.
Today, despite years of persecution, the Baha鈥檌s have not only survived, but thrived in the diaspora, with communities in 190 countries around the world.
