A day in the life of a ‘therapy dog’
‘Indiana Bones,’ a giant nine stone ‘therapy dog’ travels to schools and nursing homes on a weekly basis. The Husky cross-breed helps patients with dementia and primary school children with literacy issues.
Therapy dogs differ from service dogs (i.e guide dogs) as they provide psychological and physiological help to people other than their owner. Therapy dogs are commonly “easy-going, confident and very calm” according to Indiana’s owner Fran Gray.
This week, British Airways refused to let a woman board a flight with her two therapy dogs. She claims the airline did not accept her medical documentation for the pair.
