Do we need more Asian gay role models?
Bollywood director Karan Johar has sparked a debate on being gay in India. He's written an autobiography and in it he says: "Everybody knows what my sexual orientation is. I don't need to scream it out. If I need to spell it out, I won't, only because I live in a country where I could possibly be jailed for saying this. Which is why I Karan Johar will not say the three words that possibly everybody knows about me.". Do we need more Asian gay role models? Would that help people become more open about their sexual orientation? Would it make it easier to come out as gay in the Asian community? Are Asian families more accepting than they have been in the past? Rita and Amit tell Nomia how their families reacted when they came out as gay.
