The protests that forced a government to U-turn

Romania had to drop plans to weaken anti-corruption laws.

Hundreds of thousands of people took to the streets of Bucharest to protest at government plans to de-criminalise some forms of corruption. They were the biggest demonstrations in Romania since the fall of Communism. The government dropped its plans - and citizens of some neighbouring countries are hoping to follow Romanians' example.
