Gold is often seen as a safe haven in times of economic uncertainty. And that was certainly reflected in 2016's 8% increase in the price. But now analysts are not so sure...
More rises in US interest rates could hold back the price of gold and uncertainty remains in global markets - not least because of President Trump's plans and the exit of the UK from the European Union.
So, how do the gold miners view the year ahead?
