Almost eight million stems of roses in just a single month...
Heathrow Airport has received almost eight million roses over the last month in preparation for Valentines Day.
Nick Platts, Head of Cargo:
"It's quite remarkable when we look at the numbers, but I guess as the UK's biggest port by value it is no surprise. As we're that centre of trade for the UK we see the roses coming through.
"They're utilising the existing capacity we have. The companies that bring the roses utilise the capacity which is already on passenger aircraft.
"We do see a lot of flowers, but around about 20% of all fresh cut flowers that fly into the UK come through Heathrow. Are biggest commodity of course is Scottish salmon."
