Now into his second month in office, President Trump has been holding a job creation summit in the White House with leading US industrialists.
Jobs, jobs jobs - three reasons why so many Americans voted for Donald Trump. Now into his second month in office, President Trump has been holding a job creation summit in the White House with leading US industrialists - including the CEOs of General Electric, Caterpillar and 3M. So what might a meeting like this actually lead to, in the longer term? Irwin Stelzer of the Hudson Institute in Washington DC gives us his opinion.
Since last summer's referendum set Britain on the path to leaving the European Union, the City of London's rivals have been stepping up their efforts to persuade banks and other big businesses that they're the ideal new base within the EU. Paris has been trying out a variety of frisky slogans to lure new business. "Fed up with fog? Try the frogs!" and "Would you really ever take your other half for a naughty weekend in Frankfurt?" The district known as La Defense is betting on new arrivals to the extent of starting work on seven new office-blocks. We hear from Marie-Celie Guillaume of Defacto, the group that represents businesses in La Defense.
A new breed of movie producer is snapping at the heels of Hollywood. Netflix has just bought the global rights to Martin Scorsese's latest film - it's called The Irishman, it's a gangster movie and it'll star Robert de Niro. The film was originally earmarked for distribution by the established Hollywood studio Paramount - so snagging the rights is quite a coup for Netflix. We get the view of Jonathan Taplin. Back in 1973, he worked with Martin Scorsese on his fist major movie, Mean Streets. He's now written a book about the internet - called Move Fast and Break Things.
All this and more discussed with our two guests throughout the show: Lisa Gilbert, Director of Congress Watch Division at Public Citizen. And Madhavan Narayanan in Delhi, a former columnist and tech writer on the Hindustan Times.
