Field: Treasury in 'listening-mode' over business rates
Conservative Party Vice-Chairman Mark Field says the issue of business rates would be 鈥渢op of the agenda鈥 in the Chancellor's meeting with the 1922 Committee next week.
The MP for the Cities of London and Westminster is one of the Conservative voices expressing concern over the Government鈥檚 plans to raise companies' business rates and is calling for "some sort of cap" to help businesses adjust to the change.
He said he was confident that the Chancellor would be in "listening-mode" but was "not unrealistic" in his expectations in wanting "tweaks" and seeking "a smoother transition period".
