Story of abandoned 'hovertrain' tests is retold in film
A vision of high-speed train travel from the 1960s has been resurrected on film - after the discovery of rare archive footage.
The 'hovertrain' was a pipedream poised to revolutionise public transport but was abandoned when the government pulled the plug in 1973.
A test track was even developed in the Cambridgeshire fens and a 1.2m concrete monorail built in 1969.
A 14-minute film has now been produced by Cambridge archaeologists, showing the tests for the first time.
