'Woolmer was so far ahead of the game'

The former South Africa and Pakistan coach Bob Woolmer was one of cricket's deepest thinkers, a man who readily embraced technology, psychology and fitness.

A year after his death, a seminal book called Bob Woolmer's Art and Science of Cricket was published, outlining his theories on the game.

It was co-authored by the renowned sports scientist - Professor Tim Noakes - a close friend of Woolmer's, who told Stumped that he was like a "doctor". If you went to him with a cricketing problem, "he would know the cure".
