Paying Niger to prevent Africans reaching Europe
Italy will pay Niger 50 million euros to strengthen its borders and stop migrants before they reach the Mediterranean. Lia Quartapelle, a Member of the Italian Parliament who sits on the Foreign Affairs Committee, explained the safeguards in place to ensure the money is spent correctly.
