Scottish parties respond to snap election

The First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has described the snap general election as one of the most extraordinary U-turns in recent political history.
Theresa May announced her intention to hold a vote on 8 June saying that it will give the country certainty and stability following the EU referendum.
Scottish Conservative leader Ruth Davidson and Scottish Labour leader Kezia Dugdale welcomed the opportunity to win more seats.
Willie Rennie, of the Scottish Liberal Democrats,called it a huge gamble and Scottish Green co-convener Patrick Harvie echoed an earlier statement from the first minister that it was an opportunity for the Conservatives to secure a stronger mandate for a hard Brexit.
