Trade,Tax and Trump

How have President Trump's plans to overhaul trade and tax fared in his first 100 days in office? And test your knowledge of the finer points of his presidency in a ´óÏó´«Ã½ quiz.

As the President hits the 100 day mark, we take a step back to assess how Mr Trump has performed on two major issues – trade and tax.

During the election campaign President Trump called NAFTA , the free trade agreement between the US, Canada and Mexico, "the single worst trade deal" his country had ever approved. This week, however, he said he was willing to renegotiate it, rather than pull out of it. Is this another example of campaign rhetoric biting the dust in the face of the political reality of government?

The last major overhaul of the US tax code was under Ronald Regan in 1986. Tax reform is notoriously difficult in the US, but it's right near the top of President Trump's agenda. This week the President revealed that he is planning to slash the corporate tax rate from 35% to 15%. We unpick some of the obstacles the President is likely to face in pushing through such a radical change. "Reaganomics on steroids" or an exercise in futility?

Plus, the burgeoning market in things the President used to own. How much would you pay to get behind the wheel of the President's old Ferrari?

Kamal Ahmed, the ´óÏó´«Ã½'s economics editor, is joined by Robert Armstrong of the Financial Times and Republican supporter, and former business executive turned author, Ed Conard, for a final session around the Trumponomics table.
