The cheaper funeral option that people are choosing
Funerals are expensive. The average cost is £3800. Some people are choosing something different – a direct cremation or burial, where you cut out the funeral and all the costs that go with that. David Bowie chose that when he died last year. According to a survey by Royal London of 2000 people, 5% of adults who’d arranged a funeral within the last five years opted for a direct cremation or burial. On average a direct cremation or burial costs a third less than a normal funeral. Winifred Robinson talks to Simon Cox from Dignity Funerals about funeral options.
