Ryde firefighter tackles the London Marathon
A firefighter from Ryde has completed the London Marathon, despite being in rehabilitation with a brain tumour.
This was the third marathon for Mark Grimes. He finished the New York event in 2008, but in 2016 had to pull of the London Marathon with less than 3 miles to go.
In 2017, with the support of family and friends he was one of dozens of runners wearing the colours of The Brain Tumour Charity, the organisation that helped him and his family though what could have been a life changing event.
He completed the 26.2 mile course in a time of 2 hours 59 minutes at 38 seconds. Inside his target time. Before setting off to London, Mark spoke to 大象传媒 Radio Solent's Neil Sackley.
