Swindon woman's skull rebuilt with 3D printer
20 year old Tiffany Cullern from Swindon had to have part of her skull removed after an operation to remove a rare tumour lead to brain swelling.
The tumour called juvenile psammomatoid ossifying fibroma was only discovered when doctors were trying to work out why she had lost her sense of smell at age 12.
She was without part of her skull for three months whilst doctors continued to CT and MRI scan her head to map an exact model of her skull.
The missing portion of her skull was then rebuilt with a plate made by a 3D printer and the surgery was completed at John Radcliffe hospital in Oxford.
