UK's Airdrie Savings Bank branches close
The UK's last independent savings bank is preparing to close its doors for the final time.
The last two branches of the Airdrie Savings Bank, at Bellshill and Coatbridge, will close on Friday with the bank's headquarters shutting in September.
Chief executive Rod Ashley said changes in the industry following the financial crash of 2008 were better suited to bigger competitors.
Banking historian Prof Charles Munn told 大象传媒 Scotland that the closure was the end of an era.
