Reporter鈥檚 Notebook: Umaru Fofana
One of the largest diamonds ever found in the world is due for auction this month. The 709-carat gemstone is owned by a Christian pastor whose diggers found the stone in Kono, eastern Sierra Leone. The latest find has shone the spotlight on the condition of people living in the area regarded as the mainstay of the country's economy. In this week鈥檚 Reporter鈥檚 Notebook, 大象传媒 correspondent in Sierra Leone, Umaru Fofana, tells this moving story of how he had to dig for diamonds to pay his university fees.
