Former Chief Crown Prosecutor for the Northwest Nazir Afzal talks about the 大象传媒 drama Three Girls
A three-part drama telling the true story of victims in the 2012 Rochdale grooming case is broadcast on the 大象传媒.
Three Girls is the story of how the girls were groomed, ignored by the authorities responsible for protecting them and how they eventually made themselves heard.
The drama stars amongst others, Silk actress Maxine Peake and Scott & Bailey's Lesley Sharp.
It also features Ace Bhatti, who plays real-life former Chief Crown Prosecutor for the North West Nazir Afzal.
Nazir was the first Muslim to be appointed to such a position and was Britain's most senior Muslim lawyer within the CPS. One of his first decisions on taking the post was to initiate the proceedings which led to the jailing of 9 Rochdale men for grooming offences. Nazir speaks to Talat-Farooq Awan on the Indus show about the drama and how the case first came to his attention.
