Tales of Indian Migrant Workers
Its 100 years since the abolition of the British Empire's indentured labour system. Many Indians travelled from India to the Caribbean, South Africa, Mauritius and Fiji to work on sugar plantations between 1838 and 1917. Their story is told in a new book called Sugar, Sugar Bitter-sweet Tales of Indian Migrant Workers. The author of the collection of short stories Lainy Malkani, speaks about their experiences to the 大象传媒's Ambreen Pervez in the following extract of a longer interview
