June 14th marks world blood donor day but it's not limited to humans getting involved, our much loved pooches are too.

A single unit form a dog can go on to help four others.

Pet Blood Bank UK was launched in 2007 and the charity provides a canine blood bank service for all veterinary practitioners across the UK.

The blood is then taken to their processing centre in Loughborough, where it is separated into red blood cells and plasma products, and then stored ready for despatch.
