The first Cricket World Cup

Not only was Sheila Hill the first female to umpire a Women's Cricket World Cup, but the first to umpire a World Cup in the sport altogether in 1973.

The 1973 tournament, which was won by England, was the first World Cup in Cricket, held two years before the first limited overs World Cup for men in 1975.

And Hill, an instrumental figure in the women's game, recalls her role in the final as being a "part in a play", and how it was the first time she had umpired in front of a crowd.
