Jason and Alice – Dungeons, Dragons and Daughters
Animators: Jess Dyer and Matt Haville
Course: Animation, University of West England (UWE), Bristol
The animators say: The animation shows the connection that Jason and Alice share over their love of board games and how it helped strengthen their relationship.
Depicted is the pairs imaginations of what is happening in the board game, a fantasy land of mystery and action and what is happening in real life of the true family. The passion for board games is clearly very strong between the pair, and conjure good visuals before the video was made. While the conversation is the most enticing part, the visuals help give weight and character to Jason and Alice and help a viewer connect with them.
The visuals started off quite fast paced and action based, but slowed down more to the real world scenarios towards the end to focus more on the bond they share, and what they got out of their board games phase in the end.
