A drink-driver has been jailed for six years after causing a fatal five-vehicle crash on the A142 in Mepal last December.

Stephen James, 47, from Parkside in Haverhill, pleaded guilty to death by dangerous driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

He was on his way to work when he overtook an articulated lorry, collided with a traffic island, crashed into a car and caused the lorry to hit a third car.

James was two-and-a-half times over the drink drive limit at the time of the crash.
