Back to sing at Llangollen International Eisteddfod - after 70 years
The Llangollen International Eisteddfodd gets underway this week, and to mark the 70th anniversary there will be a special performance this evening featuring choirs who have a very special connection to the festival. Colne Valley Male Voice Choir, from near Huddersfield, were the first choir to perform in Llangollen in 1947.
The Colne Valley choir will perform alongside Froncysyllte, Rhosllanerchrugog and Canoldir male voice choirs - both of whom were founded in 1947.
Rachael Garside spoke to David Jones, who was the chairman of Froncysyllte Male Voice Choir for 14 years, who is now their compere and first tenor, and
David Hirst; he's Colne Valley Male Voice Choir's vice-president and music committee chairman, and has been a choir member for 57 years.
