Fancy a job as Communications Director for No 10?
Fancy a job in Government? Number 10 Downing Street are looking for a new director of communications and
the PM programme wondered what qualities it takes to fill that role.
Dr Jon Davis from Kings College London is writing a book about the machinery of government and told Carolyn Quinn that historically "this is a great role of government which in normal times people would bite your hand off for" but at the moment there could be some reluctance because "it is such a very unstable situation".
Robin Gordon-Farleigh, a senior civil servant who ran the Downing Street communications team for six years, says that currently the role would be "very challenging". However, on the positive side "you are watching the theatre of history play out in front of you".
