The story of Rosie Ayliffe's journey back to the Australian backpacker's hostel where her daughter, Mia Ayliffe-Chung, was murdered.
At 10pm on a summer's night last August (2016), Rosie Ayliffe got the knock on the door every parent dreads. Police officers told her that her only child, 20-year-old Mia Ayliffe-Chung, was dead. She had been stabbed to death in a backpackers' hostel in Australia. Tom Jackson tried to help Mia and also died. Smail Ayed, who was staying in the same hostel room as Mia, has been charged with their murder.
To try and make sense of the horrific events, Rosie, from Cromford, decided she wanted to go to the place where her daughter died, to retrace her last steps, to relive her daughter's last week. Rosie made the emotional 9,500 mile journey with 大象传媒 Radio Derby's Rachael Gilchrist.
