My Extraordinary Skin
The skin condition vitiligo may be physically harmless, but it can be psychologically devastating. Meet the people embracing and finding the beauty in their ever-changing skin.
Vitiligo is one of the most medically misunderstood skin conditions and there is currently no cure. The white patches it causes to appear all over the body may be harmless, but their effects can be psychologically devastating. So how are people learning to live with, and even love, their skin?
Young mum of two Keira has never left the house without covering her patches in make up. In a few weeks time, Keira will challenge herself to go make-up free, for a vitiligo photo shoot. Confidence in front of the camera is something that comes naturally to aspiring model Bashir, but that hasn鈥檛 always been the case. Bailie from Manchester has been building confidence in her skin, through dance. And Hetal has gone to extreme lengths to try and cure her vitiligo.
With no magical cure available, young people with vitiligo are learning to embrace their ever-changing skin, and find the beauty in their vitiligo.
