Dermot Reeve: How cocaine ruined my life
There was a time when Dermot Reeve was one of the golden boys of English cricket.
He captained the English county team Warwickshire to six trophies in three seasons between 1993 and 1995 and played 32 times for England, including the 1992 World Cup final.
But life after retirement has been far from easy.
He resigned from a commentating role with Channel 4 in the UK after admitting taking cocaine while on duty - and lost his home and savings in a divorce settlement.
Now living a quiet life as a part-time coach in Perth, Australia, Reeve raised eyebrows in cricketing circles when he decided to auction off his original Wisden Cricketer of the Year Almanack from 1996 to help raise funds. Here he is telling Ali Mitchell about that decision in a powerful account of his troubled life.
