How do you start a Music Festival?
Victorious Festival organizer Andy Marsh gives us tips for starting a music festival..
More festival news - as the UK festival industry is performing really well.
Despite some recent events being hammered by bad weather there's still 750 festival across the UK this year. So that number couldn't have been sustained with a a genuine public passion for festival. And the breadth of genres and sizes of festivals now means that anyone can find an event they like.
A knock on affect of that is that it's not just about the big brand, corporate events - due to public demand, much more home grown festivals and local focused have had a chance to grown like never before.
Victorious Festival Portsmouth is the UK's biggest metropolitan festival but was founded in 2012 by three friends mates who ran pubs and restaurants - now just five years later, their Saturday and Sunday line ups will be seen by 65,000 people (Stereophonics, Elbow, Franz Ferdinand, British Sea Power, Frank Turner, Echobelly, Maximo Park) and their new Friday night event - Madness. Charlatans and Craig Charles will have a 30,000 strong audience.
Matt Everitt spoke with one of the organizers Andy Marsh to find out about the current festival market, tips for dealing with growing an event that fast, and starting off with the most important factors in starting a music festival..
