What was it like doing a pirate radio show?

Monday marked fifty years since the end of pirate radio stations such as Radio Caroline.

It's when the Marine Broadcasting Offences Act was introduced, effectively outlawing all pirate radio and forcing the stations to close soon after.

Roger "Twiggy" Day was a presenter on Radio Caroline South and so was DJ Tony Prince.

Tony said:

"When we went out to see we went out with Canadians, Americans, Australians and we Brits went out to sea to learn and develop the art of how to be a good DJ.

Roger said:

"We had to sleep on the floor with cockroaches running all around, it was horrible. It was pretty basic.
