Where is Africa鈥檚 next generation of female leaders?
When Liberia's president, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, stands down later this year, it will mean that for the first time in more than a decade, no African country will be led by a woman.
Anite Evelyn Kajik, Uganda's Minister of Finance for Investment and Privatization, believes that while strong female leaders are still emerging in Africa, it鈥檚 a reminder not to become complacent. She is the youngest woman in the Ugandan government and the youngest female minister in Africa.
Anite is now at the forefront in a campaign to support the role of women in leadership across Africa. She has been telling Newsday鈥檚 Clare McDonnell that there is an urgent need to have many more ''Ellen Johnson Sirleafs'' in Africa.
