The Sunday Feature: Northern Ireland and the Politics of Language
This week's feature looks at political sensitivity surrounding languages in Northern Ireland. The representation of the Irish language in the six counties has become a contentious issue, as the nationalist Sinn Fein party are demanding that a new law be put in place to protect the tradition, if they are to restore the power-sharing executive at Stormont. Meanwhile the unionist community are seeking to keep the Ulster-Scots tongue relevant as the nation's demographics are shifting towards Catholicism.
