'Agricultural technology is key to the value chain'

Africa has enough land to feed the world, yet it struggles to feed itself.

In the 1950s and 60s, Asia and Latin America saw the beginning of their "green revolutions" where new technologies produced bumper crops, boosting their economies. This never happened in Africa and parts of the continent still lie in famine.

But Gilbert Houngbo, Togo's former Prime Minister and now president of the UN's International Fund for Agricultural Development, believes that is about to change.

He told the 大象传媒's Tamasin Ford that Africa has the potential to feed the world.
