Saint-Saens’ Swan as you’ve never heard it before!
Seeming to magic music out of thin air, a theremin player never touches the instrument.
One of the earliest electronic instruments, its modernity seemed to chime with the post-revolutionary utopian ideals of Russia in the early 1920s.
It’s played here by Peter Theremin, great-grandson of its inventor, Lev Theremin.
