Reading FC: Stam deserves a 'lot of credit'
Brian McDermott, who Stam replaced at Reading, thinks he has done a 'fantastic job'.
The Royals have lost five of their first ten games in the Championship and sit 20th in the table.
"I look at the manager from afar and I think, 'Wow, he's done a fantastic job'," McDermott told 大象传媒 Radio Berkshire's Ady Williams. "He's done an unbelievable job.
"My first six games [of] the year we went up was four defeats, one draw, one win...that season we went on and won the league.
"There's still so many points to play for, and anything can happen in this league."
And McDermott says he is enjoying his current role as a scout at Arsenal.
"I'm in different parts of Europe most weekends. I was in four different countries in seven days recently!"
