An emotional journey for former Tour de France rider Philippa York. As Robert Millar she achieved greatness, but says she would choose gender transition over sporting success.

An emotional journey home to Glasgow for Philippa York, the former Tour de France rider who achieved greatness as Robert Millar, King of the Mountains. After retiring from cycling, Robert Millar disappeared from public life. There were rumours of gender transition and tabloid newspapers doorstepped the rider in attempt to snatch proof. It was a difficult and emotional time for Millar and his family who for over a decade craved privacy and respect to get on with their lives. In July a statement was released explaining Robert had transitioned is now known as Philippa York.

大象传媒 journalist Rhona McLeod, a life long cycling fan was able to contact York and persuade her to conduct her first television interview back in Scotland, in her home city of Glasgow. This journey was emotional and enlightening as York was able to meet friends old and new, including her own cycling idol Sir Chris Hoy.
