The story of the ‘Heart’s Battalion’ of World War One
Football fan Tim Vine visits Tynecastle, the home of Hearts Football Club. In 1914, whilst top of the league, sixteen players chose a very different battle ground as they signed up for the 16th Scots Battalion. This led to five hundred fans signing up to stand beside their idols and they became known as a Football Battalion.
