Should swearing be allowed on the radio?
The Canadian broadcasting regulator has ruled the F-word can be used on the radio, provided it is only on the French language service.
The regulator says the F-word in French does not have the same vulgar connotation as it does in English, and if the word is used infrequently and not as an insult, it will now be deemed acceptable.
Given that you can find the F-word in some national newspapers, and it can be hard to avoid in everyday conversation, writer Harry Ritchie and stand-up comedian Janey Godley discuss on Radio 4's PM whether British broadcasters should consider saying yes to the F?
