"I was in the toy department and there was one bear left on the shelf"
As a memorial service is held in his honour, we delve into our archives as Michael Bond tells 大象传媒 Radio Berkshire's Sarah Walker about the time he found the 'real' Paddington bear.
Michael Bond, Paddington Author:
"I was walking down Oxford Street on Christmas Eve and it started to snow, there was nobody around and I found myself in the town department.
"There was one bear left on the shelf, I walked away and I thought you can't stay here all by yourself.
"I've always wanted to use the name Paddington for a character...we'd find ourselves talking to him."
