Advertising committee 'alert' to broadband concerns

The director of the Committees of Advertising Practice (Cap) has said the organisation is "alert" to concerns that many customers are not able to achieve the broadband speeds advertised in national campaigns.

From May next year, broadband firms will no longer be able to advertise their fast net services based on the speeds just a few customers can achieve.

Currently advertisers can use headline speeds that only 10% will actually receive.

Shahriar Coupal told Radio 4's PM programme "our concern is to better manage consumers' expectations".
