Celebrating a World Cup win with beer & sandwiches

When Uruguay beat Brazil in the 1950 final, a lack of cash meant the party was pretty low key. The Uruguayan delegation had been so sure they were going to lose that many left town before the last match was played. So the players had a whip round and sent someone out to buy snacks. Fear of reprisals from local fans in Rio meant "they were scared to go out themselves" explains photographer Michael Donald. He's interviewed everyone who's ever scored a goal in a World Cup final for a new book.
