Former England spinner Graeme Swann has pinpointed why Joe Root's form suffered during the Ashes series, saying he 'just needs to concentrate on being a batsman.'

鈥淲hat really annoys me about Rooty is he could be our best ever player. There is no difference between Steve Smith and Joe Root in ability at all, and yet Steve Smith is so much more prolific right now,鈥� Swann added.

Root is only averaging 29.33 with the bat in this series, while Australia captain Steve Smith has scored 167 more runs than Alastair Cook and Root combined so far.
