Pigeon spike inventor: 'It is the humane way'
The inventor of an anti-pigeon spike, which has been put on trees in Bristol, has been defending his invention saying "it is the humane solution" to dealing with problem pigeons.
The spikes are designed to stop pigeons roosting in the trees and their mess falling on to cars parked below, but the management company who installed them has met a lot of criticism from wildlife fans.
David Jones, who also manufactures the device, told Radio 4's PM programme that people might think it is unfair to put the spikes up to make the pigeons go away, but the alternative is calling "in a pest control company to shoot them all".
